Former Miss USA Rima Fakih Arrested on Drunken Driving Charge

USA Rima Fakih, the first Arab-American to win the crown in 2010, was arrested in Detroit on Saturday morning on suspicion of drunken driving, her attorney told the Detroit Free Press.

Lawyer Doraid Elder told the newspaper he had been retained to deal with the case, but had few details about the incident.
Still, Elder said Fakih was "very saddened and very apologetic for the situation that she is in right now."
Highland Park police could not confirm the arrest but sources told WXYZ-TV that Fakih had registered a blood-alcohol reading of .20, more than twice Michigan's legal limit.
Fakih tweeted earlier Saturday that she had not been arrested and was not even in Michigan. The tweet was later deleted, the Free Press reported.
Fakih's reign as Miss USA ended in controversy in June when she was suspected of having had an all-night bender in the week leading up to the 2011 pageant. Titleholders have been watched extremely closely since Miss USA 2006 Tara Conners came under fire for alleged drug use, underage drinking and sexual indiscretions.
